However, even the AGA could not keep ignoring the fact that under their very noses, the online casino industry has mushroomed to unrecognizable proportions and the time had come to address this industry in a report put out by the association. The AGA report had very interesting facts about the online casino industry in the United States.
While it is obvious to everyone that the online casino industry is growing in massive proportions, the AGA report put numbers to this phenomenon. The report showed that, presently, the online casino industry promotes revenue of $12-billion per year. The report predicts, however, that by the year 2010, this number will double and the online casino industry will bring in $24-million in revenue. Another interesting statistic provided in the report showed that last year alone, over 15 million American citizens logged into more than 2600 online casino sites.
The final interesting fact released in the report stated that even though many gamblers in the online casino world knew that there were some ‘gray areas’ regarding online casino gambling, a whopping 81% were unaware that a 1961 law specifically prohibited the use of telephone lines for placing bets.
